One Spirit

One Spirit is an energy-based shamanic healing system that works with the heart, unconditional love and three symbols. It takes you inside yourself: the aim is to look beneath the surface and see your true self.

Its founder, Diane Bellefeuille, is Native American. After becoming a Reiki Master Teacher she moved on to Shamballa and many other systems, then studied shamanism. The idea for One Spirit came together with the animals that arrived at her door — a young blue jay learning to fly among them: many Reiki systems included animals, but none had been written directly for animals and shamanism.

On the understanding the system rests on, each of us has eleven animal guardians. Two stay with us for life — our power animals; one walks on the right and guards the feminine side, one on the left and guards the masculine. The other nine change according to the lessons we are learning and the trials we meet.

Each chakra also has its own animal guardian, and this is where the first level puts its weight: what the chakras are, which animal keeps which chakra, and the grounding, animal spirit and chakra guardian meditations for meeting them. Clearing the chakras with colour and tone, and the power animal horoscope, also belong to this level.

One Spirit resembles Reiki: both teach how to heal yourself and others and how to send energy at a distance; both address body, mind and spirit. The real difference is that it connects you to your animal guardians and animal spirit guides, and works more with animals and with nature. It also puts loving and forgiving yourself without judgement at the front.

The second level is the master manual and teaches three symbols: Heart to Heart, which connects your own heart to the hearts of your animal guides; Power of Source, which connects the heart to Source; and One Spirit, which connects you to all your animal guides at once — the circle in the symbol standing for Mother Earth.

The symbols are applied by drawing them on the palms. The work is not only for your own pet; it can be done for a neighbour's animal, an injured animal, an animal in a shelter or a cage, and sent to many at once. The founder describes first using the system this way for the animals left behind in Hurricane Katrina.

The course also covers how to speak with your animal guides, what to ask of them, and how to bring chakra animals that do not get along into working together — as well as how to pass the attunement on to others.

Both levels are given together in a single attunement. The course includes a two-part PDF manual, the attunement, a certificate and email support.
