Sekhem (Seichim) Reiki

The hieroglyph for Sekhem was carved on the walls of temples, pyramids and tombs, appears often in sacred documents, and even became part of the temple language — yet the word was never explained to ordinary people. Wherever it is used it carries a sacred second meaning.

The person who brought the system back in its present form is the American Reiki Master Patrick Zeigler. Seichim is the Sanskrit form of Sekhem: the same energy after centuries of being worked through Eastern culture, its vibration slightly changed. Different sources write it Say-Keem, Say-Sheem, Se-Kem or Sekhem; all come from one root.

It has things in common with Usui Reiki, and important differences too. The vibration of Seichim and Sekhem is stronger; it can be directed to a place, its intensity can be changed, it can be turned into other energies. Because its force is greater, it asks to be used consciously.

For all that, it is not a harsh energy. Its unconditional love is felt clearly enough to tell it apart from the others; it supports you while your change is taking place. It does not create tightness in the chest, trauma or emotional turbulence during a session. It gives you the courage to look at yourself honestly: you look inward, see who you really are, and give yourself the healing that is needed.

Another difference is its duration and depth. Applied for half as long as the others, it stays in the body far longer, and works at once on the physical, spiritual and energy bodies and on mind and feeling. It looks for the real cause behind an illness rather than the illness itself.

The story of how the system came about rests on a night in 1980 in the Great Pyramid at Giza. Meditating inside the granite sarcophagus in the King's Chamber, Patrick Zeigler met an electric-blue light that came down onto his heart; all night it turned above his heart as though drawing the sign of infinity. Afterwards he was initiated by a Sufi sheikh in Sudan, and on returning to America he studied Reiki with Barbara Weber Ray. Seichim was born from those three strands meeting: the pyramid, Sufism and Reiki.

In myth the energy is linked to Sekhmet, the lion-headed Egyptian goddess. Sekhmet was created from the fire of the eye of the sun god Ra; her task was to protect what is good and destroy what is not. Because she could not be stopped once angered she almost ended humanity, and afterwards became a goddess who destroys only what must be pulled down and rebuilt, and who gives healing to humankind.

In the course you learn the symbols of the system, the infinity meditation, the hand positions, grounding and protection practices, and distance work with an energy ball (Chi Ball). Seichim Reiki consists of seven attunements; each is built on the one before and brings a further step of clearing. All seven are given together in a single session, in order: you do not book seven separate dates.

Prerequisite: to be attuned to Seichim Reiki you must have received the Usui Reiki Master attunement. This system belongs to the second tier of energy systems.
