Karuna Ki

Karuna-Ki should not be confused with the Karuna Reiki taught by William Rand; it is a system of its own. It also has related forms such as Karuna TM and Tera Nai Reiki TM.

It makes no claim to be superior to Usui Reiki; its energy simply feels different. No one can tell you which will be more effective in a given session — that is a decision you make with your intuition. Working with Usui Reiki and closing the session with the Karuna Ki symbols can be very effective; you may also work with only one of them. The training helps you make that call.

In the course you learn the thirteen symbols and where each is used, four separate meditations, the mudras and how they are used in a session. You also learn to scan a person's body to find the troubled area — both for someone beside you and someone far away — and to give healing close by or at a distance.

In short, the symbols and where they are used:

ZONAR — The first symbol used in a session. It is said to work on old imprints at the cellular level.

HALU — Works at higher dimensions than Zonar. It sends healing energy into the troubled area and dissolves subconscious patterns and blocks.

HARTH — Used for emotional matters. It brings beauty, balance and harmony to life, and is also used in leaving bad habits behind.

RAMA — Used for grounding and for connecting with earth energy. It is very effective in the lower chakras and balances the lower chakras with the upper ones. It is also used to clear crystals and a room.

GNOSA — Connects you with the higher self; used for reaching spiritual and mystical knowledge.

KRIYA — Used to keep balance and increase awareness. It strengthens memory and makes learning easier; it sets thought into motion.

IAVA — Helps in letting go of conditioning and increases awareness. It is also used in planetary healing: war, flood, earthquake.

SHANTI — Keeps you from being caught in the past, lets you live in harmony with the present, and uncovers the future you have been preparing for yourself.

OM — Represents the workings of the universe as a whole. It brings wholeness to life and is used to clear and steady the air. It brings light, cleanses and protects.

DUMO — Connects with all the chakras and opens them, and channels the centre that lets the kundalini fire flow.

USUI DAI KO MYO — Enlivens the union of each chakra, each centre, the body and the mind. All illness is held to come from clouds formed in the spiritual bodies; this symbol clears the spiritual body.

TIBETAN FIRE SERPENT — Used in meditation and in healing, for balance and renewal.

RAKU — Used during an attunement. It separates the auric fields of master and student and activates the hara line.

The system has four meditations. The first uses a particular breath to strengthen the healing channel, raise personal Chi and heal the self. The second is done on the energy of compassion and lets you spread that compassion through the universe. The third is done with the symbols; it develops your connection with them and so with the heart, which is the ground of the system. The fourth uses toning, and can also be used to change or deepen the effect of the first.

Karuna Ki suits deep healing work and its symbols cover wide ground. Because its technical side is demanding, I recommend it to those who can give these practices time and effort.

Prerequisite: to receive the Karuna-Ki attunement you must be a Usui Reiki Master.
