Reiki I

Usui Reiki has three stages; once you have received the Reiki 3 attunement you can also take the other Reiki systems recommended here.

How the distance course works

The courses on this site are taught at a distance. You choose a time on the calendar and pay; the confirmation and a calendar invitation arrive by email. The day before the session the handbook reaches you — I recommend reading it before the attunement. At the agreed time you lie down or sit somewhere quiet; no video call or app is needed. The attunement takes 20–30 minutes. Afterwards your certificate is issued in your name, with your lineage, and its link is emailed to you. For the twenty-one days that follow you give yourself Reiki daily — the handbook explains how — and you can write to me with questions at any time.

What the first stage teaches

The first stage begins with the Reiki Master passing the Reiki energy to the student. The history of Reiki, its purpose and what can be done with it are taught, and the standard hand positions needed to give Reiki to yourself and to others are shown. Whoever completes this stage has a technique they can use for life.

When taught in person

Given in person, the training takes one full day and at least two attunements are given during the day; the student practises so as to get used to the energy and learn the positions. In the distance course the same content is delivered through the handbook and the attunement at the agreed time; you study the hand positions from the handbook and grow used to them during the twenty-one days of self-practice.
