The level XII symbol is called the Great Love. It aims to assist you in achieving your true aim in life. It aims to help you focus on the things that are important on your spiritual path, reduce fear and allow you to pass on love in all that you do.

Prerequisite
No prerequisite — if you feel ready, you may take it.
The symbol of this level is Dai Ai — Great Love. It is written in Japanese kanji and represents its own name.
It is the last of the degrees of light passed on by Silva; as Severina told him, that lineage was completed with the transmission of Reiki 12.
Its subject is recognising your life's task. According to the handbook that task is not a complicated thing: to love those around you, yourself, and everything that has been created. The point it insists on is that loving yourself is part of that instruction — when you are told to love your neighbour as yourself, the measure is the love you hold for yourself.
Its second emphasis is on loving what is different. There is no reason not to love someone whose faith or way of living is not yours; being different does not change that they too love, grieve and care. In this meditation you are meant to feel safe, and therefore to have no enemy left to fear.

Prerequisite
You are expected to have been working actively as a Reiki Master for at least six months, and the levels are taken in sequence. This is a guideline rather than a gate — it is what works for most people.
Some students arrive ready by another route, through years of their own practice, even without having taken these particular systems. If you feel ready, you may go ahead; the decision is yours.
One thing said plainly: an attunement opens as far as the ground beneath it allows. If that ground is not settled yet, the level is still given, but you may not see the response you hoped for straight away. That is not a failure, only timing — a level taken early usually waits for you and settles into place once you are ready.

The level IX symbol is called The Great Happiness which aims to assist you in finding true happiness in life. Happiness means to love and accept yourself and others unconditionally.
